I am Karen, and I work as an iOS engineer. I was born in Peru, but I am currently living in Ottawa, Canada.
Ever since I was young, there have been two things that I love the most: computers and reading. Fortunately, I grew up surrounded by books (novels, history, geography, and some biographies) and made annual visits to the book fair. On the other hand, computers allowed me to discover topics that I didn’t know about and to explore HTML/CSS for the first time, while I was examining the source code of certain websites.
I attended Law School at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Lima, Peru. However, a year after my graduation, I decided to leave behind my career as an Employment and Labor Law specialist and embark on a coding journey.
Technology has enabled me to work from my hometown, as well as work in Argentina and now in Canada. Throughout this time, I had the opportunity to work for consulting companies, both large and small, those oriented toward products, and with incredibly passionate developers. Initially, my entire experience revolved around iOS development (Objective C and Swift), but now I am enjoying learning React, React Native, and other web technologies. I would love to delve deeper into UX/UI and backend development with Node.js. Perhaps the next time I write this, I will remove many of the topics I’ve already learned and add new ones that I am discovering.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing, traveling, listening to music, and watching documentaries and essays on YouTube.
